Internet Marketing Tip of the Month

Promoting Your Online Projects Offline
April, 2001

How many times have you seen a company's URL on employees' business cards? Or in its advertisements in newspapers and on the radio? These are offline promotions in support of an online project. This month we have compiled a few examples of non-Internet media forms that can be used to promote your business as well as your website:

Answering Machine Message: "After-hours and on-hold callers hear about our website address," said Ralph Fazio of Flamingo Surprise, a popular consumer service. "When we are not available is the ideal time to promote our website."

Company Vehicles: Use your company vans or trucks as moving billboards for your website address. This promotion is automatically targeted to the geography you serve! Just ask Kronheims Furniture, Zenza mobile medical service, or Paul Davis Automation.

Printed Postcards: Cleveland radiology group Drs. Hill & Thomas have used postcards featuring a screen capture to promote their new website. The group mailed them to referral sources and handed them out at its facilities.

Print Advertising: Advertising in your local city paper is very good for retail stores and for companies that have a wide target market. You can get by with a smaller ad if you refer to your website for details. This approach has been successful for Paysage and Adler Sporting Goods.

Radio Advertising: Robert Felber, MAS, president of Traymore Marketing said, "I recently phoned a prospect who, when I mentioned Traymore Marketing, said, 'you mean T-R-A-Y-M-O-R-E dot com?' He had heard our public radio underwriting spot. This is fantastic brand building and name recognition and we receive good site traffic and mentions with this offline advertising strategy."

Television Advertising: While sometimes costly, Kronheim's Furniture and Flamingo Surprise use television commercials, mentioning websites, as another way to reach their customers in Cleveland and the surrounding areas, usually resulting in a surge of web traffic.

Contact Dynamics Online for more information on how we can help you determine the best form of advertising for your company. We can also design and print low-cost color postcards to announce your site.
